The secure portal is the default
All clinical communication happens inside the patient portal, which is encrypted and becomes part of your medical record. We will not discuss your care by ordinary email or text message unless you ask us to and accept the risks below.
These channels are not secure
Ordinary email and SMS can be intercepted, misdelivered, or read by anyone with access to your device, your phone plan, or your email account. Once a message leaves our systems we cannot protect it.
What we will send, if you consent
- Appointment reminders and scheduling changes.
- A notice that a new secure message or lab result is waiting for you in the portal — without saying what it is about.
- Refill and lab reminders.
- Billing notices.
These contain the minimum information necessary and never include a diagnosis or clinical detail.
Consent, frequency, and cost
- Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving care and can be withdrawn at any time with no effect on your treatment.
- Message frequency varies with your care plan. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for help, or contact support@pellmoorhealth.com or (312) 555-0142.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Marketing messages are separate
We will not send you marketing messages unless you give separate, specific written consent for that purpose, as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act requires. Consent to care reminders is never treated as consent to marketing, and we do not sell or share your number with anyone for their own marketing.
Keeping your contact details current
Tell us if your number or email changes. Numbers get reassigned, and a message meant for you could reach someone else.
